Lauren & Joseph
Lauren and Joseph were married at Loon Mountain Resort on October 14, 2016 at the absolute peak of foliage. Their mountaintop summit ceremony was nothing short of breathtaking, the way the seating area was shadowed and opened up over an expansive view of the sunwashed Presidential Range as far as the eye could see.
getting ready
first look and portraits
Lauren and Joseph looked absolutely radiant and happy right before their ceremony. Excitement was running high, and the chilly weather didn’t even slow them down.
Lauren looked nothing short of regal, with her tall, slender frame in a sleek lace Paloma Blanca gown.
For a few minutes before the ceremony, the bridal party and family was tucked away in the ski shop, to allow the guests to arrive up the mountain and take their places in the amphitheater. It also allowed everyone to stay warm while we waited for the time to line up for the ceremony. Luckily, the light on the little porch behind the ski shop was absolutely delicious and it allowed us to get many of the immediate family photos done before the ceremony. Lauren and Joseph were so wonderful about being fluid with the plans, and we were able to be flexible and use time and space where we could get it to take portraits.
ceremony
Lauren and Joseph’s summit ceremony at the top of Loon Mt. was just beautiful. It was so obvious that everyone gathered there had so much love for the two of them. One of my favorite parts was the “ring warming” where their wedding rings were passed around all the guests in a little bag so that everyone could bless the rings and offer positive thoughts before the ring exchange.
Believe me, the one place you do not want to drop the rings is off the top of the summit, down the mountain. As the rings made their way back up to the front, Joseph’s best man took extra care that neither of the rings would slip out.
These are some of my favorite portraits I have ever taken. Due to the severe drought this summer, the river was nearly empty so heading down into the rocks, with the vibrant foliage in the background, was an absolute must-do. Thanks to the guys for helping us navigate the rocks! We were all able to climb down and make these unforgettable shots. I love when couples bring their sense of adventure and “why not?” to a wedding day.
the reception
Lauren and Joseph are truly blessed to be surrounded by so many loving people in their lives. Their reception was a reflection of all of that goodness, and there was everything from
- toasts that made everyone cry
- their elegant first dance, which they had taken dance lessons for
- a surprise wedding song performed by a groomsman
- to the wildest and most fun dance party I have ever witnessed, led by DJ Ryan Parker
It was really just so much fun, and a perfect way to finish up my 2016 wedding season. Lauren and Joseph, thank you so much for having us as part of your special day.
