I’m so excited to share this post! Carrie contacted me almost a year ago asking me to shoot her wedding and I was thrilled to say yes. It was an awesome and unique wedding held on the Mt. Washington cruise ship on Lake Winnepesauke! I first met Carrie almost 10 years ago, when I was first hired at Oxford. I was in training to go on the phones in customer service, and she put the smackdown on my first irate call. She’s tough!
When I met with Carrie for a consultation about her wedding, I was really struck by how relaxed she was about the whole thing. It was a 2nd wedding for both her and Jay, and as someone who is a bit older and wiser than the first time around, she really had her priorities in order: family. It was all about a wedding not only between her and Jay, but also their four kids between them. In fact, their children were their wedding party. Carrie’s 11 year old daughter Alyssa was her maid of honor, and Jay’s 9 year old son Justin was his best man.
I have so many favorites from the day, so rather than tell the story of the day in a sequence, I will show you my favorites in no particular order.
The ship itself was a beautiful backdrop for some dramatic shots:
We even got to visit the Captain’s helm for some quick posed shots:
and I snuck in a candid, too:
I am a complete and utter sucker for the detail shots. Oh, be still my heart. The table settings! The chair covers! The food, flowers, and favors. And above all else: the cake. This cake was a spice cake with caramel-flavored buttercream filled with cream cheese frosting. Delicious.
The little girls were SO excited about getting dressed up in their dresses. It was wonderful to see them so excited about being a part of it all.
Alyssa (maid of honor) nearly stole the show with her speech. Oh my heck. This sweet 11-year old girl got up there and delivered the most honest, heartfelt speech imaginable and had everybody in tears. She just went up there and rocked it out….if she was nervous, it didn’t show!
And a few more for good measure:
Carrie and Jay, thank you for letting me be a part of your special day. I wish you years of happiness together!
