Taste of Downtown Manchester 2011 | NH Food Photography

I was so excited to again attend Intown Manchester’s  Taste of Downtown Manchester for the 2nd year in a row.  We had such a great time last year that I knew this event is going to be a repeat on my calendar every September for a long time. I was so excited, in fact, that I bought tickets the day they went on sale and soon after that reserved my rental for the Canon 35mm 1.4 lens which I’ve been wanting to try out as a food lens. Normally I take my 50mm 1.4 to restaurants and events like these, and the 35mm gave me some extra breathing room and it was just heaven.

Below are some of the samples that Dave and I tried. We ate sooooo much and had a great time. Can’t wait for next year!!

Z Food and Drink offered up  a super spicy chicken taco. The fresh lime wedge reflected an impressive attention to detail.

Consuelo’s was organized, friendly, and delicious as they always are at these types of events. Their chicken tamales were outstanding!

My absolute favorite stop on the tour was El Rincon. Hands down. I have never had refried beans so amazing as these. Every single thing I sampled was to die for– so fresh, homemade, and flavorful. I have never been to this restaurant before which is a shame, mostly because I’m often too creeped out to walk past Veteran’s Park, but I will definitely be visiting again soon for a full meal. I have a birthday coming up, and I can think of no better place I’d like to go. The decor inside is just as happyhappy as it can  be. Yes, I’m still gushing. I could go on. LOVED this place.

Piccola’s was wonderful, and I enjoyed the Caesar salad immensely- it’s one of my favorites. And the eggplant parmesan was awesome….. I could have eaten a lot more of that!

I think Ben & Jerry’s was the only place serving dessert, but I could be wrong. It was nice to take a break with some chocolatey Phish Food before hitting up a few more stops.

Firefly was hopping as always, and they served (I believe) a buffalo chicken pasta.  Yum yum. Also they were wonderfully hospitable to provide water! We were so parched, and Firefly was the only place that offered some water (that I know of). It was much appreciated.

Our last stop of the night was a driving stop….. we left Elm St and drove over to the Hilton to see Executive Chef Jason’s creation for this year. Last year it was Dave’s very favorite stop. We were SO full at this time, but couldn’t resist. The crabcake was delicious, but for me the slaw garnish on top was out of this world. Tangy and zesty!

Another year, another awesome Taste of Downtown. We had such a great time and ate so many wonderful things….. I only wish I’d been able to eat more! I wanted to keep going, but just could NOT eat another bite. Until next year!
