Laura and Ben met while living in Los Angeles, when a friend “volunteered” Ben to drive her friend Laura to the airport for a trip. Two hours stuck in traffic, turned what may easily have been an awkward situation into great conversation, and a growing realization that they shared many common interests (travel, craft beer, etc). and a budding romance soon began. On September 21st, Ashley, that same friend who volunteered the driving duties became an ordained minister for the day and married her two friends overlooking the lakes and mountains at Geneva Point Center at Winnipesaukee.
Laura and Ben planned an afternoon of laid-back festivities for their guests’ enjoyment….. the couple of hours between the ceremony and the cocktail hour was dubbed a period of “merriment” that everyone spent engaging in lawn games, sipping beer, mingling, and enjoying the beautiful warm afternoon. The variety of lawn games was impressive: cornhole, bocce ball, a Swedish game called “Kubb,” ladders, and washers.
The couple requested some fun alma mater shots with their college friends…. MIT and Bates represent!
Then–the reception! It was beautifully done, with table decor featuring beautiful autumn apples piled high, and each table designated by vintage National Park or State Park signage that Laura and Ben have visited in their extensive travels. It was an amazing scrapbook of their adventures, and so tastefully done. Wedding favors were a little s’mores packet to save for hanging out at the fire pit later that night (I hope the weather held out?)
The cocktail hour and dinner menus were provided by Curt’s Caterers, and I have to give a shout-out here, because they were some of the nicest vendors I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Always so friendly, and never too busy to help out, even to find a glass of water for little ol’ me during the hustle of dinner service. And the dinner was delicious. I heard everyone raving over the salmon, and the mushroom risotto/acorn squash dish.
Cocktail hour was served on the porch surrounding the Meeting House, with a canoe full of beer and a beautiful hors d’oeuvre display.
