Amanda and Jeffrey were married in Wells, Maine on July 3, 2021 at a private residence where Amanda’s family vacations. A next door neighbor graciously allowed them to use the adjacent field to host the wedding under a huge sailcloth tent, complete with massive rows of farmhouse tables to serve an incredible Maine lobster feast. Amanda and Jeffrey’s special day was originally scheduled for 2020, but due to Covid they had to postpone an entire year. I know it was such a difficult wait, especially because they live in L.A. and basically all of their guests had to travel to Maine. Despite some challenging circumstances, with the help of Kagem Chic Designs as their wedding planner, this gorgeous day all came to fruition.
The day of the wedding, the forecast called for rain almost all day. We all crossed our fingers that it would hold off just a little bit so we could do some portraits. Spoiler alert: it did! The curtain of 1000 paper cranes + 1 for good luck certainly pulled its weight that day.
When I arrived, the table settings were being placed, and Mary of Lotus Floral Designs was working her magic with an endless parade of vases for the farm tables. The pen of goats and chickens nearby provided charming entertainment, and there was even a goat feeding station, where the guests enjoyed feeding them apples and carrots.
The First Look
Amanda and Jeffrey’s sweet first look took place in the woods outside of her family’s cabin. This place holds special memories for her, so having their wedding there had so much sentimental value. They shared some quiet emotional moments when they first saw each other in their wedding clothes.
Before the guests arrived, Amanda and Jeffrey had a chance to see the finished decorations in the tent, with the full table settings and flowers. They were in awe of it all, and I’m so happy there was a little time for them to take it all in.
The Ceremony
The flower girls came to WORK, and they were adorable.
The Reception
The rest of the beautiful celebration took place under the tent, with a lovely cocktail hour, followed by Amanda and Jeffrey’s first dance, some heartfelt toasts, and parent dances. The rain that we all knew was coming didn’t actually start until a little after dinner, at which point everyone was dancing the night away anyway. Such great luck and timing!
Meanwhile, the catering folks were busy behind the scenes preparing the lobster dinner! Everything was steamed right on site.
Classic Maine Lobster Bake
There was a complete lobster bake dinner served by Foster’s Clambakes and Catering. This meal was incredible and included all the good things of a traditional Maine clambake: Lobster steamed right on site with drawn butter, corn on the cob, steamers and mussels, roasted red bliss potatoes, rolls, and a great salad. They even provided buckets with claw crackers and bibs. The guests had a blast with this amazing treat.
And what better way to finish of a lobster dinner, then with Maine blueberry desserts? Instead of wedding cake, they served blueberry pie and blueberry crumb cake.
Under a steady rain, the guests danced the rest of the night away to the amazing DJ stylings of Jay La Bella! Some of the folks from L.A. were freezing in the cool damp weather, but that’s all part of the Maine summer experience.
I’m so thankful to Amanda and Jeffrey for choosing me for this very special Maine celebration. My first wedding of the 2021 season was off to an unforgettable start, thanks to this lovely couple and their very kind families. This style of outdoor wedding, in a meaningful location with great food and dancing is my absolute favorite. I hope they will cherish these memories for the rest of their lives. ♥
