Chloë and Tim were married at her parents’ home in Meredith NH on July 28, 2018 in a sweet backyard ceremony that fit perfectly into a lush backyard under a homemade macrame curtain adorned with summer flowers. Chloë and Tim grew up in New Hampshire with seemingly parallel lives, attending the same schools and living in the same towns. However, they did not meet until later when the universe decided the time was right. Their wedding matched their personalities perfectly: relaxed and chill, with a super cool bohemian vibe filled with macrame, crochet, and 70s inspired colors from the dresses to the July garden flowers. The men looked sharp in cool summer blues that kept them stylish and comfortable.
While the girls were getting ready, I had some time photograph the amazing details that Chloë had chosen for her accessories. Their inviations were richly colored and detailed which tied in beautifully to the colors of the wedding. I loved her chunky bracelets and headpiece and was grateful for the time allotted to photograph them, as they make an important addition to the overall wedding gallery.
The girls opted to do their own makeup, which allowed for some quiet downtime. The mood was cheerful but busy as the girls went about their business. We chose to do the final preparations in her family’s living room which was absolutely beautiful, glowing with natural light flooding into the french doors and ample windows. It was exciting to see the flower crowns installed, and how gorgeous they looked with the mismatched-yet-coordinated bridesmaid dresses. The textured detail on Chloë’s crocheted dress was just stunning once all the accessories were placed.
Meanwhile, over at his parent’s home, Tim was getting ready with his guys. His wild curly hair is his trademark, and he pulled it back into a small bun. I know his mother was glad to have these few minutes with him to “help” him. He didn’t need it, but she did. Love those crisp blues! In what I’m sure was no accident, that cool blue print on his shirt tied in precisely with many of the blue pattered tablecloths over at the reception. No detail went unnoticed!
ceremony and portraits
The short ceremony was touching and sentimental. Dan Walker provided the acoustic guitar music that brought ambiance to the lush yard of a house on a gravel road in Meredith. Once the ceremony was completed in just a few minutes, we did the small amount of family photos, and bridal party photos there in the backyard. It was their wish that everything be done at the house, because once we arrived at Waukewan, it was time to roll right into the reception. As per usual for the summer of 2018, we had one eye to the sky towards the never ending rainy season. We knew a rain shower was coming soon so we needed to hurry with the portraits.
The bridesmaids looked fantastic in their boho style dresses. They were thrilled about how they all came together so nicely even though they’d never seen them all together before that day. Pulled together by the summery blooms by Lakes Region Floral Studio, they created a comfortable, easy-going look with tons of style.
Chloë and her mom snagged this incredible vintage sofa for just $25 and knew it would be perfect for the look of the wedding. The groomsmen were happy to carry it around wherever we needed it.
Reception at Waukewan Golf Club
Chloë and her mother spent months and months planning for the specific look of the barn at Waukewan. By collecting thrifted glass vases in bright colors and different shapes, which the florist filled with seasonal garden style flowers, they created a vivid kaleidoscope of color on a muted backdrop of ivory tablecloths and crochet. They added swags of ribbon fringe hanging from the rafters, and thick drapery behind the band, with a big oriental rug underfoot. Cozy, colorful, and welcoming.
Be warned: here are many photos of this carefully planned reception decor which I immensely enjoyed photographing.
The rest of the evening went on beautifully. There were lovely speeches by parents, the best man and maid of honor, a fantastic dinner by a family friend who is also an amazing caterer, and lots of dancing to the Dan Walker Band. This wedding is a perfect example of what can be achieved with a well-planned 6 hour timeline.
Congratulations to Chloë and Tim!
