Product Spotlight: Session Albums

Modern portraiture isn’t about single prints anymore; it’s about storytelling.  While the 8×10 purchased for hanging in Grandma’s foyer is all well and good and certainly has its place, it doesn’t tell the whole story of a photo session. That’s why I really like the idea of a session album for my clients. It’s a great way keep a number of your session images in a beautiful book that you can hold in your hand and pass around. Individual prints may or may not ever get framed, they may get stuck in a drawer somewhere….. but a beautiful quality album that you can be proud to display in your home is a real treasure for years to come.

I’m proud to offer session albums in three different sizes: 4X6, 5X5, and 5X7.  And each of these comes in the option of 10, 20, or 30 pages. These are mounted albums, which means that each page is one photographic print adhered to a deliciously thick page (pages are available in black or white) and there is a tiny border around the edge of the photo. Some labs actually assemble these albums for the photographer, but I love to do it myself. I love to work with my hands and I really enjoy the idea of personally creating something so beautiful for my clients. It’s a labor of love!

The fun part about these albums is the cover choices. I’ve selected some really colorful and unique materials to offer my clients, so it gives everyone a choice to match their personality, decor, and overall theme of their session.  All the cover choices are included in the price, so there is no price difference based on what you select.  All of my covers are animal-friendly and their super high quality look and feel are virtually indistinguishable from real leather.

In this sample album here, I chose Hollywood Orange from the faux suede collection.  This is a 5X7 album with 10 leaves/20 pages.  The first thing my husband said when I handed him this album to show him was, “Are you going to show this to people? Because they really need to feel this.”  They feel amazing in your hands. They are heavy and substantial for their size, the feel of the cover is soft and thick.  The pages are firm and the binding is gorgeous.  It’s quality, baby!

Next I have an example of a 5X5 album (the blue one), shown here in the 5 leaves/10 page option, with the Faded Jeans cover from the Happy Cow Collection.   It is so cute and petite, and is a perfect size for carrying right in your purse!  It’s a beautiful gift or a keepsake memento. The box shown below is the storage box that comes with the album.

If anyone would ever like to see these albums in person, please let me know. Photos do not do them justice.  They are as much a tactile treat as they are eye candy.

You may recognize my recent senior session with Brian in this album!  You never know, I often use client sessions to build product samples and marketing materials for my studio.  🙂

  • Karen - That is exactly what I was looking for for the dance pictures last year. Love those thick pages! I would love to see one in person. Can you bring one to the next crop? Thanks!ReplyCancel
