New England Pediatric Services | Manchester, NH Headshots Photographer

It means a lot to me when local businesses trust me to create some new images for their website. It’s especially meaningful when it’s a business that has such a huge heart and does such important work with children with special needs–like New England Pediatric Services. NEPS began with two speech-language pathologists who were passionate and focused in the kinds of work they wanted to do, and in a short period of time they’ve more than doubled their employees, adding a physical therapist, occupational therapist, and another speech pathologist.

They are ready to update their website with current headshots of the whole team–and I was more than pleased to bring my style of relaxed, natural light portraiture to their web presence. I really feel that it’s important to portray a therapist in a natural, personable, and engagingly human sort of way, since this is a person who will be working so closely with a child and their family.  In my mind, the traditional studio grimace-into-the-flash headshot would be unacceptable and completely inappropriate in this context. (Actually, come to think of it, I can’t think of many instances where that sort of thing is ever appropriate.)

At the end of the session, we were able to go to the location that I had originally picked out for them: Cat Alley! The light wasn’t right when we first got there, but later on when the light had mellowed, and everyone was feeling more relaxed we did some fun shots with all the amazing color in the alley, painted by local artists. These are some of my absolute favorites.  Therapists are fun, engaging, kid-oriented people, and I just knew this background would be perfect for that reason.  Everyone picked a favorite cat, and we did some more portraits there.

It’s a unique opportunity for me to photograph these ladies. I can’t begin to share the gratitude I have for Cass and Annie for their work with my son Drew. It seems like they have been with him for as long as I can remember. Annie was his speech therapist from ages 2-3, and then Cass took over as the autism specialist for more than a year now, and filled in gaps that we never even realized needed to be addressed. These ladies have had such a tremendous impact on Drew’s development for such a long time now, and I’m certain our family would not be in the place that it is now without their expertise and dedication. They have either directly impacted his progress through their therapy, or pointed us in the direction of where we needed to go. I trust them completely with knowing what my son needs. And thanks to them, we now know what the next steps for Drew are going to be. I sincerely hope that as NEPS continues to grow we can continue to work with them as my son’s needs change.   I wholeheartedly and enthusiastically recommend them to any family who is facing communication issues with their child, especially autism.
