Home in North Carolina

A recent vacation – a Mommycation- was much needed and long anticipated. I took a trip back home to North Carolina to visit my parents and my family and friends and I had a blast. Just me, no kids and no hubby, and it was just what I needed. I loved the spring, the flowers, the warmth and beauty, and all the things that New Hampshire is just completely missing at this point this year.  I ate a lot of junk food and slept late (till 8am!!!)  It was a great week spent to recharge my batteries and escape my reality for a little while. I came back refreshed and rejuvenated!

One day, an afternoon treat at Ganache in downtown Greensboro:  Red Velvet cake, Key Lime pie, and lemon bars.

The dogwood is the state flower of North Carolina and it’s been years since I was there in April to be able to see them in bloom. I was SO happy that I got the timing right this year, and I anxiously looked for them from the plane as we descended into NC.

I may have partaken in a few too many gorgeous cupcakes from various bakeries in Greensboro….. these below are from Delicious and Maxie B’s.

A quick lunch one day at Fincastle’s in downtown Greensboro…. had to make time for a green drink (an old timey lime/pineapple soda) and a Fincastle burger! Walking around downtown is always a beautiful treat, and with a camera it’s even better!

It’s so much fun to find a juxtaposition everywhere you look of old and modern. Personally I prefer the quirky but I suppose the ritzy corporate is what pays the bills. 🙂

A different evening in Chapel Hill with my best girlfriends provided another round of awesome memories….. Franklin Street got a little sweeter since I lived there 10 years ago with the addition of a bakery and a Krispy Kreme.

Sugarland Bakery in Chapel Hill was delicious and filled with gorgeous pastries and gelato.
