jenny & pat
Jenny and Pat were married on an unseasonably mild November weekend in Arlington, Vermont, at the gorgeous West Mountain Inn which is perched upon a hill up a tiny dirt road. The West Mountain Inn is magical, and has been around for a very long time. In fact, the day after the wedding, I was visiting nearby Hildene, and the tour guide, after hearing my reason for being in town that weekend, asked me if I knew the most famous wedding to take place at the West Mountain Inn. I said no, and he went on to explain that almost 30 years ago, he and his wife woke up to a strange buzzing sound, and quickly realized that it was coming from 4 helicopters circling over the West Mountain Inn. The reason? Michael J. Fox was getting married there, in 1988.
By the time I caught up with Jenny and the girls, they’d already had a busy day with early morning yoga in the barn, followed by a group trail run through the woods surrounding the Inn.
first look & vows
Pat and Jenny had a unique first look situation, because they’d actually prepared some self-written vows to read to each other during this time, quietly and privately without anyone around. My assistant photographer and I stayed back as far as we could, shooting with long lenses, to give them as much distance and privacy as we could.
This is a seriously good looking bridal party.
I cannot imagine a more rustic, romantic, elegant barn wedding ceremony

hannah & tj
Hannah and TJ were married on November 14th, 2015 at the wonderfully rustic Tumbledown Farms in Wakefield, NH. Not too far from Wolfeboro, this amazing 1800s barn is the perfect spot for a country wedding. As you can see from the talented stylings of Private Weddings + Events, this barn dresses up beautifully with black chiavari chairs, rustic linens and gorgeous centerpieces from Lotus Floral Designs. Hannah and TJ wanted a fun, laid back environment for all their family and friends to help them celebrate, and that’s exactly what they achieved.
How amazing does this barn look, all dressed up with bunting, twinkle lights, and braided country rugs, juxtaposed with formal chairs and classy table settings? True rustic elegance! It’s an absolute pleasure to photograph the work of Private Weddings + Events. No detail is overlooked.
preparations, first look, and ceremony
cocktail hour and reception
The reception for TJ and Hannah was characterized by everything wonderful about a rustic New Hampshire barn wedding: delicious plentiful food, good spirits, creative signature drink menu, heartwarming toasts, enthusiastic dancing, and enough warmth generated by family and friends that soon the chilly barn became a haven from the cold outside.
What a fantastic way to wrap up an amazing 2015 wedding season. It has truly been my honor to photograph the wedding of Hannah and TJ, and every other couple that trusted their wedding photos to me this year. I was lucky enough to work in all my favorite types of venues: private homes, historic sites, rustic barns, and old inns, all of which were as unique and creative as the couples who chose to wed there. Thank you for a great year, and I’m looking forward to what a gorgeous year 2016 is shaping up to be!

Laura & Mike
Laura and Mike knew they wanted to hold their wedding in the Sunapee region of New Hampshire, the place they love and where they have made their home. Dexter’s Inn on October 18th was the perfect backdrop, with its stunning views overlooking the mountains, gorgeous fall foliage, and minutes from scenic Sunapee with its boats and bridges. They wanted a natural theme to their wedding with a distinct New Hampshire vibe, celebrating all that they love about their life together and the place they were meant to be. From a folksy rock band setting the pace of the night to an array of delicious comfort foods for dinner and desserts, this was one beautiful, freezing cold wedding day that everyone will remember for a long time.

Laura’s dad brought an amazing photo prop along–his 1957 Chevy!
The ceremony site at Dexter’s Inn is truly one of the most scenic I have seen, and combined with the brilliant colors of peak foliage, it was absolutely magnificent. Pumpkins filled with flowers lined the aisle, and the vibrant flower colors popped against the white chairs and white arbor, with a backdrop of miles of sky and mountains in the distance.
Was it cold? You bet it was! These ladies were incredibly determined to stick it out in the 34 degree weather, just long enough for the portraits. They looked gorgeous, and their vibrant colors coordinated beautifully with the scenery around them. Beautiful bouquets by Paisley Floral Design Studio pulled it all together.
Back inside the tent, guests enjoyed toasts and speeches, first dances, a delicious dinner buffet by Bubba’s Bar & Grille, and a fun dessert buffet. Instead of a traditional wedding cake, Laura and Mike decided to keep it comfy and casual with cheesecakes and cider donuts.

caitlin & issac
Caitlin and Issac celebrated their lovely October 9th wedding at the Publick House Historic Inn in Sturbridge MA. The fall colors were really starting up, and the Inn was beautifully decorated with pumpkins and corn stalks everywhere you looked.
Caitlin and the girls were absolutely gorgeous, even in the drizzling rain. Their flowers by Michele Bernard were so vibrant with amazing sunflowers and zinnias that popped against the girls’ hunter green dresses.
The beautiful reception in the garden tent was decorated with bright sunflowers, with lots of hunter green and orange accents, echoing the amazing fall colors all around.
Cocktail hour featured this amazing bacon bar where guests could sample from three different varieties of bacon: jalapeno, pecan smoked, and maple. Fabulous idea!
After an evening of dancing, even more food came out! There was a late night waffle bar, with all the custom fixings, as well as a beautiful dessert buffet with pies, cakes and eclairs.

I am completely smitten with Jessica and Zach’s November engagement photos at Hamilton House in South Berwick, Maine. November is one of my favorite months for weddings and photos, believe it or not. Of course everyone loves October with its showoff colors and majestic scenery. But I find a quiet, somber beauty in November, when most of the trees are bare, all the leaves have been cleaned up, the sunlight is significantly weaker and allows for a quiet exploration of textures, colors, and soft light. Jess and Zach were amazing to work with, and it was great to be able to get some fall photos for them before their summer wedding next year.
