Monthly Archives: September 2012

This year’s Taste of Downtown was another big success, and yet again, had amazing weather. I’ve been going for the past three years now, and it’s always been a beautiful evening. I’m calling this year’s event “Battle Pulled Pork!” in the fashion of Iron Chef, because so many of the participating restaurants featured pulled pork of some kind (JD’s Tavern, The Farm, Dos Amigos, Jillian’s… did I miss any?). It was definitely interesting to compare and contrast all the different varieties. As a North Carolina native, I am no stranger to the low-and-slow cuisine, and with BBQ in my very DNA I think Jillian’s hosted by With Heart & Hand had the absolute best last night.

Please enjoy a few of my favorite photos from the evening….. my husband and I hit nearly allllllll the locations and it was all a blur by the end. We had a great time, as usual!

Another interesting fact to note was that there was a huge increase in the number of desserts sampled!!  I remember in years past there have been only a couple of desserts that I know of, but this year we had Bananas Foster from The Patio’s chef Jason Jette, Carrot Cupcakes and marshmallows from Planet Marshmallow, gorgeous pastries from Finesse Pastries, chocolates from Van Otis Chocolates and Granite State Candy Shoppe, Ben & Jerry’s, cannolis from 900 Degrees, cookies from scratch from Jillian’s….. among others!

There is nothing cuter than your kids in their Halloween costumes so I’m offering TWO days of mini sessions: Saturday, October 13th and the afternoon of Halloween, Wednesday, October 31st for those who like to wait till the last minute. 🙂    The location will be a cool one-of-a-kind Halloween-styled photobooth held outdoors at a private home in Goffstown, complete with pumpkins, haybales, etc.  Be sure to follow me on Facebook and Instagram (@erikafc) for preview pics of the photobooth construction–it’s going to be awesome!

Sessions cost $75 and include a 15-20 minute session for up to 2 children or pets in costume, an online gallery with 10 proofs, and TEN high res files. Also enjoy scary deals on print packages!

Best of all, these mini sessions support a great charity! Simply bring in a dog or cat food donation when you come to your session and receive a free Halloween portrait e-card to send out to friends & family.  All donations will go right to the Manchester Animal Shelter on Dunbarton Road. So skip the iPhone photos and come out and get a professional portrait of your kids (or pets!) in their costumes all while supporting a very important organization.

Today I’d like to give my brother Derek and his wife Jill a special shoutout on their fourth wedding anniversary. I love you both!  Hard to believe it was four years ago that I shot their beautiful Blowing Rock, NC wedding at Chetola Resort. It was so special to me that they trusted me with the job, especially since it was my very first wedding ever. Here’s to many more wonderful years together!
